Birdsville to Winton

As flat as ever.

As flat as ever.

The flatness of the landscape is quite awe-inspiring and the vastness is quite unique to Australia

Mate, If the East Coast populated areas get to you, you may want to check out the Bicentennial National Trail, known as the BNT. It runs from Cooktown in Queensland to Healesville in Victoria, predominantly following the Australian Great dividing Range. You can join and depart in numerous place on the trail. Some of the scenery is specco [Really good] although there are some rather steep hills!!

    Cheers.

    1. Thanks for the pointers. Yeah, traffic highways are a pain!!! I’ll be riding a tiny bit of the BNT just for the heck of it, but not much I’m afraid. But I’ll hook on to it in Mingela, and ride about 100 or so km through it (Ravenswood, Burdekin Dam). Sounds enticing, but I’m not fully prepared, mentally and otherwise, to ride a lot of it. Maybe I’ll come back and ride the whole thing another time. 🙂

Fantastic shots! The shoe arch reminds me of Death Valley’s Teakettle Junction.
