As this year comes to a close, I still remember fondly the months I spent bicycling the Continental Divide from New Mexico to Montana.
At first I thought it would be a physical challenge to go the entire north-south length of the United States, about 2000 miles. In the beginning, it was. But as the days turned into weeks, I came to enjoy all the minutes I spent on and off the bike as I traveled. For those who hadn’t followed me on this trip, I kept a blog at thedivide.vuongs.net, which you can read.
This pleasure has me thinking and planning my next trips in 2018 and 2019, and beyond. I have an idea– or a wish– as to how those years will unfold. There will definitely be short trips of a few days to a week. But I am planning for each of those years to hold a multi-month journey. Let’s see how the future unfolds. Keep tuned.
